Auction Time |
Well, it's here. On Saturday we will get rid of all of our earthly possessions, except for a few boxes of pictures, memorabilia, family heirlooms, and stuff to pass to the kids when they get older and have homes of their own.
This morning the auctioneer is coming to go through all of our stuff. We have spent the last few weeks loading everything into lots. He will come and make sure it looks good and get an idea of what we have. He will then come back for the sale on Saturday. We are going to have to carry everything out and line it up for him to sell. It is estimated that it will last about 4-5 hours. Yes, 4-5 hours to sell 17 years worth of stuff.
All of the kids did great packing up their stuff, no tears at all. Each of them has a bucket of clothes and a small box of belongings. We are down to using plastic plates, cups, and tableware and washing those for reuse. We have saved one skillet and our crockpot for cooking over the next month.
We booked our tickets last week. We leave on August 12, my birthday. |

Wow. This is all quite overwhelming, isn't it? I know stuff is just... stuff. But still, it must be hard to go through this. Once it's done, I bet you'll feel refreshed and ready to take on your new challenges.

Wow, what an experience. will you be blogging about your jouney to china? My Daughter has always wanted to go to china even though she is only 9 God has already planted something out of the box for her. I can tell by our conversations and her passions. She is very interested about your new life and the culture and since you have girls about the same age how they adjust and what they think of living there. I think she wishes she was chinese sometimes!!! It would be great if she could write the girls or even read about your experiences. Our family is praying for yours step by step. I will tell you happy birthday now since it sounds like you will be busy that day!!!lol love to all julie Hope you still have our email

Have you seen the documentary- Troublesome Creek? They have an auction of all of their things. It is a hard day for them, but they did well. They did it for different reasons, but it might be a similar experience. I bet you will feel so much lighter and freer when it is over. Talk about giving your life over to God. I will be interested in your story to China. Sorry you won't be routed through here.

Hi! With a move and computer troubles, I lost your blog address somewhere along the way. I just ran across it this morning. It seems I have some catching up to do!!
Will you continue your blog with your move?

I found that before I moved to England, it was easy to let the stuff go. I wanted so much to be there!
Now, all my stuff fits into 6 cubic meters. But I am sad not to have all of that around me. It's only for a year...and then I'll be SO glad to see my books and bed and desk again!
Do take some well-loved and new books and dvd's with you.
