Six months ago today, on July 4, 2006, a judge in Stavropol, Russia, declared us the parents of El and L. Many have posted their court pics, but I don't think we ever have. We were not allowed to even take a picture of the courthouse, much less anything in or beside it. In fact, we were scorned for even suggesting it. Therefore, the pic below is outside our hotel when we returned from court, the proud Mama and Papa to two more wonderful children!!! Boy, how time flies!!!
We didn't get to see our sons on the day of court. There were other couples going to court and needing to see their children for trip one, etc. Our orphanage was so far away that it wasn't really convenient to get us there that day. The picture below was taken outside the orphanage the day after they were declared ours. It was our first day with our sons officially. To tell you the truth, I remember us having so much fun that day, but when I looked at this picture today I saw fear and uncertainty in their little eyes and bodies. The picture looked sad. They are totally different boys today. Thank you God for changed lives.
(Funny sidenote: Check out the shoes and socks, especially on L. I'll have a great pic to show future girlfriends, huh? Actually, when they first came home, they saw the girls put on their Sunday socks for church one day and L asked if they were his. :-) The boys were the youngest at their orphanage. There were several little girls that were just a little older than them. I'm sure the socks and shoes were all the orphanage had.) |

Wow! Comparing the picture from "then" to the one just below at Christmas is amazing. I love to see the way the kids come alive when they're home.

It is so amazing how much they have changed! We have pictures from our first week with the kids, and while we thought we were so happy, it is plain to see now how scared and uncertain the kids were.
LOVE the sandles! Eamon had a shiny light blue pair that were almost as stylish! :)

aww that is a cute picture! Many blackmails for future girlfriends!
They do look scared but the pic below on their bikes shows exactly how well they have adjusted and changed in a loving enviornment! Way to go!

They're so tiny in that picture. I love the shoes, at least they weren't dressed in pink, right?!
They have grown so much how fast those 6 months have been. Wow! Maybe I will make it through this year long wait after all.

They've certainly changed. The shoes and socks are so cute. Peanut arrived in the US with a pair of hot pink fake Minnie Mouse flip flops. He was sooo proud of those things.

Wow--six months makes a big difference. They've been brave little troupers--and now it's easy to see all the benefits of a loving home and family.
Did you request twins or were you just incredibly fortunate? I've heard twins are uncommon in Russia. Do you think having the gtwins worked in your favour? We have twins in our family. I'm approved for two girls and can't help but wonder if I could end up with twins of my own.

Looking through tears, as usual, I am so saddened to think what those little boys were wondering. Can't imagine what a scary life they were living but to come to such a new and strange place with strangers and soooo much excitement must have been very frightening for them. Also, keep thinking about all the dental problems and that is traumatizing to all of us....much less your little guys. Praise to you and your family for the wonderful lives they are now living and will live. Those shoes and socks tell the story, don't they? You will be showing their girlfriends the pics before you know it. So... Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy! Also, Kim....about their Russian grandmother...have you considered sending her a large postcard? Your mom said you are already having your letters written to her in Russian but this way, the thief would not be tempted to open the envelope or package. Just a thought.....I am keeping her in my prayers. :) K
