Itinerary Complete |
Well, we just finished our itinerary. We leave Oklahoma on June 30 a little before 8 in the morning. We will arrive in Moscow on July 1 at about 10:30 in the morning. We will hang out all day there and fly into region that evening. Whew! That will be one long day!! We get to go see our children on the 2nd and get prepped for court.
July 3rd and 4th we will be in court. We were curious as to why our region had 2 days for court. They said the judge interviews us the first day. The second day she talks to the orphanage director, medical doctor, etc., and then makes her ruling.
We will wait the 10 days from July 5th to July 14th. We are still praying that by some miracle we get them waived. However, we have been told that they are not waiving the 10 days for anyone, anywhere, for any reason. Anyway, we will fly to Moscow with the 2 new Cagle kids on July 15th. We will rest the 16th and then begin all of the Moscow stuff on the 17th. We are hoping to fly back to the USA on the 20th or 21st of July.
We went shopping the other day and bought me a suit for court and the boys' "coming home" outfits. It was fun! Damon also made a doctor's appointment for the boys after we returned. He said it felt good to tell the doctor their names and see it written down. It is all really happening!!
**Update on other things: Several posts ago I talked about a little 7 year old girl who was battling cancer. I am asking everyone to please pray for her and her family again. She went in Thursday to start a new treatment and was told that she didn't qualify anymore because her cancer was too advanced. The doctors have told the parents that there is nothing more they can do for her. We are praying for a miracle. The family needs prayer more than ever. Thanks!** |

We'll keep fingers crossed that they waive the 10 days. Best to plan on having to stay, but hope that it might be waived. I'm excited for you.
I'm sorry to hear the news about the little girl. I'll pray for her.

I am so happy that you will be able to bring your kids home so soon. I will pray for the needs you mentioned. I hope all goes well!

I'm curious about the 10 days... if you are going to stay in Russia during that period, how have you arranged for the care of your children at home? I've been wondering how we are going to do this when it comes up for us.
It's all such exciting news! I'm glad that things are coming together for you and that the boys will be home soon!
And I will be praying for the family that you mentioned. I cannot fathom the struggle they must be going through.

Sandy,
We have my parents and my sister and Damon's mom and his sister who have all volunteered time slots. Also, my dear friend that gave us the table has also offered some time. Many church friends have also offered to help. However, I think we'll just stick to family and the one friend who is like family. When we went on trip one, my mom and dad had them and kept them so busy they didn't hardly know we were gone. I think it will be harder this time.
We know many people come home during the ten days. Here's our view on that: One, who wants to do that flight two more times!! Two, we don't have the money to do the flight two more times. Finally, and most importantly to us, those little boys will be OURS during those ten days. The way we look at it, do we want to leave the four that are being taking care of by loving family members or leave our two kids, yes, OUR two kids, in an orphanage in the middle of nowhere? We opted to stay with in Russia and spend time with them, as much as they will give us. In fact, we can't imagine leaving them after they have been given to us by the court.
Hope that answers your question. Sorry it was so long.

Praying for he Burnett's. I think it's neat that your court date will be July 4th. They can have fireworks every year to celebrate becoming Cagle's. I also like your views on the 10 day wait. We were going to look at the difference in plane tickets vs 10 hotel nights and food, but you made a great point about leaving your kids. It's too bad they don't let them come stay with you in the hotel normally.
